ToSky and Konkuk University Launch Industry-Academic Project on an SDV AI Companion

Accelerating the Development of a Multi-Agent AI Companion and Training of AI Talent for Future Mobility

AI service company ToSky Co., Ltd. (ToSky) is launching an industry-academic project with the DMS Lab at Konkuk University to develop a next-generation AI Companion that maintains conversational context for the Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) environment. The project aims to simultaneously foster specialized AI talent in the future mobility sector and strengthen ToSky’s technological competitiveness.

The core objective of the project is to develop a Proof of Concept (PoC) for an in-vehicle AI Companion that combines a Multi-Agent collaboration architecture with Context Memory technology. ToSky will be responsible for implementing and validating the AI Companion, while Konkuk University’s DMS Lab will provide its proprietary Context Memory API and conduct joint industry-academic research.

As the global automotive industry shifts toward software- and AI-driven vehicle value, major automakers and technology companies such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Google, and Tesla are actively entering the competition for LLM-based AI agents. Against this backdrop, AI Companions capable of understanding drivers’ intentions and maintaining the context of previous conversations are emerging as a key technology for next-generation SDVs.

The project will be based on an AI Companion architecture consisting of a Context Engine, Memory Layer, Agent, Tool Layer, and Personal LLM. Key activities will include the development of an AI Companion prototype, integration with the Context Memory API, and end-to-end validation and performance testing. Through these efforts, the project aims to enable natural conversations and personalized AI services in real-world vehicle environments.

The industry-academic collaboration will focus not only on technology development but also on nurturing future AI talent. Student researchers will gain hands-on experience by directly participating in actual industry projects, including Context Memory API integration, evaluation scenario development, and AI Agent enhancement. Following the completion of the project, the partners also plan to establish a virtuous cycle connecting the program to internships and potential employment opportunities.

Through this project, ToSky plans to secure core AI Companion technologies for SDVs and expand their application into the in-vehicle AI services market through follow-up R&D and commercialization. The company also plans to build a sustainable industry-academic collaboration model that combines the development of AI professionals with real-world industrial applications through continued cooperation with universities.
